Energy Transfer's $5-million contribution to Ducks Unlimited in support of wetland conservation efforts is helping DU conserve more than 8,500 acres of coastal wetlands and grasslands in Ohio and Louisiana. Energy Transfer's operations overlap several of DU's priority landscapes and provide excellent opportunities to support wetlands conservation work.

Ducks Unlimited and Energy Transfer developed this program because of a shared commitment to environmental stewardship and Energy Transfer's focus on giving back to the communities across the country in which its employees live and work. For Energy Transfer, the opportunity to help facilitate wetland restoration efforts in Ohio and Louisiana that will not only benefit waterfowl and wildlife, but also those who depend on these areas for their livelihoods was key to solidifying their participation.

The $5-million contribution will allow for additional conservation mission efforts in Ohio through DU's Big Rivers Initiative and Great Lakes Initiative, and in Louisiana through DU's Gulf Coast Initiative, which includes the Atchafalaya Delta.

Louisiana

Energy Transfer's support of Ducks Unlimited has benefited several ongoing conservation projects in Louisiana through DU's Gulf Coast Initiative. These efforts protect, enhance and restore waterfowl wintering and migration habitat and improve outdoor recreational opportunities across the Gulf Coast. Ducks Unlimited has completed several major projects, including the enhancement of Rockefeller State Wildlife Refuge, community-protecting marsh terraces near Houma, and the Cameron Prairie terrace project. In 2020 DU will complete a moist-soil unit enhancement project on Pointe aux Chenes Wildlife Management Area.
