VANCOUVER, Wash. – May 14, 2026 – Longtime Ducks Unlimited supporters Bill and Teresa Fuchs of Chester, Idaho, were recently honored at a donor dedication event at the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife’s (ODFW) Ladd Marsh Wildlife Area in La Grande, Oregon, recognizing their generous contribution to wetland management and conservation. Their donation of an Aquatic Vegetation Rake (AVR), a specialized excavator attachment, will play a key role in improving water management and controlling noxious vegetation across the marsh.
Through DU, the AVR has been provided to ODFW, where it will be used to manage invasive aquatic plants such as cattail and bullrush, and maintain waterways more efficiently and effectively than traditional methods such as dredging or herbicide application. Faster, more cost-effective, and less disruptive, the technology represents an important step forward for wetland stewardship.
This innovative equipment, designed by Fuchs and his company, Maximized Water Management, LLC, provides habitat managers with a cost-effective alternative for long-term wetland and water management solutions.
The Fuchs' commitment to conservation extends far beyond this single gift. They have been dedicated DU supporters for many years, generously donating hunts and hunting-fishing combo trips to DU fundraisers and volunteering as co-chairmen with their local chapter. Their continued engagement reflects a deep belief in conservation driven by partnership and innovation. Their generosity will support healthy wetlands and wildlife for years to come.
