In March, a group of organizations gathered to celebrate a successful partnership that enhanced habitat on Virginia's Mason Neck State Park. This project was led by Ducks Unlimited and staffed by Mason Neck State Park, the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries, and the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation. Funding for this project was provided by a $25,000 grant from Dominion Virginia Power. Support was provided by volunteers from Dominion Virginia Power and the Boy Scouts of America.

Mason Neck State Park is located in southern Fairfax County, adjacent to Mason Neck National Wildlife Refuge, the Potomac River, and Belmont and Occoquan bays. This area provides vital habitat for migrating and wintering waterfowl. This project, which aids in flood retention, groundwater recharge, and reduces soil erosion, will also help improve the overall health of Chesapeake Bay.
