MEMPHIS, Tenn. Aug. 8, 2019 Ducks Unlimiteds Waterfowling Heritage Center (WHC) recently celebrated more than 1 million visitors through the museum.

Four years ago, Bass Pro Shops generously donated 4,600-square-feet of space within their mighty Memphis Pyramid superstore allowing DU to construct the Waterfowling Heritage Center, an extraordinary interactive waterfowl and wetlands conservation education museum. Since opening in 2015, the WHC has proven to be one of most popular attractions at a Bass Pro Shops store.

Among the 1 million visitors, more than 10,000 local school children have landed at DUs all things waterfowl and wetlands mecca. These children experience hands-on, personalized educational programming while in the museum, which showcases the art, history and science of waterfowling and wetlands conservation. Within the museum, visitors view the vast display of more than 15 private collections, including duck and goose calls, gunning and decorative decoys, waterfowling shotguns, original paintings and carvings and historic waterfowling artifacts.

Visitors can learn about the different waterfowl species, chat with DU experts and learn the art of the waterfowl decoys, calls and much more. In addition to the exhibits within the museum, visitors learn about Ducks Unlimited, wetlands conservation, waterfowl biology and management, the history of waterfowl hunting in North America and the important role that sportsmen and women play in conserving our continents wildlife and habitat.

Since July, visitors have enjoyed the newly launched Prairie Experience. This interactive Prairie Pothole habitat welcomes visitors to experience Americas Prairies during the height of Spring nesting season. Much more than a display, visitors are engaged through the dioramas immersive and interactive touchscreen displays and hands-on learning provided by on-site educators.

The Bass Pro Pyramid experience is an immersion in conservation education, and the Waterfowling Heritage Center is an important part of sharing the Ducks Unlimited story with over one million visitors, said DU CEO Adam Putnam. We are proud to partner with Bass Pro to remind people how successfully hunters and anglers have restored habitat and saved game species for generations to come- and how much work remains to be done.
