RIDGELAND, Miss., - Aug. 19, 2021 - Phillips 66 once again stepped up for conservation and committed $650,000 in support of Ducks Unlimited's (DU) conservation work on public and private lands in Texas, Louisiana and Missouri, and a wetlands education project in Montana.

"Phillips 66 has been one of DU's strongest conservation partners since 2013, helping to improve wildlife habitat, water quality, natural resources and community resilience across the country," said DU Director of Development Matt Bunn. "Their support of projects like the one to repair hurricane-damaged infrastructure on Guadalupe Delta Wildlife Management Area (WMA) in Texas will improve the area's ability to withstand increased water flow during storms and extreme flooding.

In addition to the Guadalupe Delta WMA project along the Texas Gulf Coast, this year's investment will also support the Texas Playa Conservation Initiative, which will help provide aquifer recharge and ensure groundwater quantity and quality in rural Texas Panhandle communities.

Supported projects in Louisiana include restoration of the nation's second-largest urban refuge, Bayou Sauvage National Wildlife Refuge, in New Orleans. In addition, a project in St. Bernard Parish will restore 1,566 acres of coastal marsh that will sequester as much as 6,246 metric tons of carbon dioxide per acre, per year.

The grant also supports the Missouri Agriculture Wetland Initiative, a partnership program to enhance and restore wetlands on private lands in Missouri. In Montana the development of a new wetlands and waterfowl-focused educational exhibit at ZooMontana in Billings, Mont., will be open to the public to show how important wetlands are to people and wildlife.

"We're particularly excited this year to support the wetland demonstration area at ZooMontana, where more than 15,000 students and 120,000 visitors annually can learn about all the benefits of wetlands.
