MEMPHIS, Tenn. March 13, 2020 Senator Lisa Murkowskis long-time support of Ducks Unlimited and those who care about wetlands and waterfowl habitat resulted in the allocation of millions of dollars for the protection and conservation of North Americas wetlands. Ducks Unlimited paid tribute to Murkowskis efforts by giving her the 2020 Ducks Unlimited Conservation Achievement Award.

Murkowski was honored today during the 85th North American Wildlife and Natural Resources Conference held in Denver, Colorado.

Senator Murkowski is devoted to the outdoors, carrying on the legacy of her father, Frank Murkowski, a member of Ducks Unlimited and a strong supporter of DU during his time in the U.S Senate and as governor of Alaska.

Since 2015, Lisa Murkowski has served as the chair of the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources and the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies.

Her efforts are most evident in her support for the North American Wetlands Conservation Act (NAWCA). As a direct result of Senator Murkowskis leadership, annual appropriations for NAWCA has increased every year since fiscal year 2016.

Every year we recognize outstanding professionals for these awards who share our passion for wetlands and waterfowl conservation, Ducks Unlimited Chief Conservation Officer Karen Waldrop said. Ducks Unlimited relies upon a network of talented individuals to achieve our goals. Only through teamwork can we accomplish the steps forward needed to ensure a bright future for our wetland resources. We are pleased to honor these inspirational efforts leading the way for others to follow.

Ducks Unlimiteds Wetland Conservation Achievement Awards are presented annually in six categories to recognize individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the conservation and restoration of North Americas wetlands and waterfowl.
