Purpose: The purpose of this project was to provide wood duck nest boxes to severely altered pocosin habitats where hydrology has been restored and natural cavities do not exist. With brood habitat restored, wood duck hatchlings will have much better chance for survival. A total of 200 wood duck nest boxes with predator guards were installed throughout Pocosin Lakes NWR.

Location: The project is located throughout the Pocosin Lakes NWR in Washington, Hyde and Tyrrell Counties, NC (near Lake Phelps).
