The Presbyterian College Ducks Unlimited chapter, located in Clinton, South Carolina, held its first event this spring, where volunteers raised more than $12,000 for DUs conservation mission. The chapter was started by a member of the Presbyterian College football team, Eli Teeselink, who has a passion for conservation.

I knew some of my teammates and their friends liked to hunt and cared about conservation. There were no other clubs like this on campus, so we decided to start a DU chapter, says Eli, who now serves as DU area chairman. We met with the regional director, got school approval, and held our event four weeks later.

That event was held under the pavilion at the football stadium, a unique and special venue for the committee members, students, and alumni in attendance. The committee promoted the event heavily through social media and the schools newsletter. More than 170 supporters turned out.

This committee was determined to pull off this event in a matter of four weeks. Sometimes we had meetings at nine oclock at night, says DU Regional Director Tanner Quattlebaum. All members of the chapter are heavily involved in extracurricular activities and all of them excel academically, so for them to plan and host a successful event in such a short time frame shows their motivation and dedication to Ducks Unlimited and wetland habitat conservation.
