University Spotlight - Colorado State University Chapter

Throughout Ducks Unlimited it has been said that, “You come for the cause, but stay for the people,” and Sheridyn Randolph, area co-chairman for Colorado State University would attest to that mantra. This chapter has shown that DU’s mission cannot be accomplished alone. In this case, it takes a dedicated team and community to come together in support of a common cause.

For the last two years, Bo Wiltshire and Randolph, co-chairs, have shown incredible leadership as they recruit and retain new volunteers. “Over the past few years we have learned a lot, especially how to communicate efficiently with one another and our committee while also learning how to better manage our time as our event approaches,” said Sheridyn. “These skills are not taught in a classroom and I am so thankful that DU has given me the opportunity to develop personally for the future, as I enter my professional career after graduation”.

Prior to enrolling at CSU as a freshman, Randolph knew that she was going to be a volunteer with the DU chapter on campus. While in high school, she was involved with the organization by participating in the Colorado Youth Outdoors Program. Immediately, she understood the important role hunters and anglers have in conservation.

“Most people don’t realize that as hunters and anglers, we are the main supporters of conservation through the purchases of licenses, permits, and other items needed to participate in the sport, said Sheridyn. “So, I decided the best way for me to support conservation was by joining DU”.

Through their fundraising success, the chapter received national recognition as a Gold All-American this past August at Third Term. The committee prides itself on building relationships in the community with local adult chapters and event sponsors.

The Colorado State University Chapter will hold their Firearm Frenzy event on December 7, 2019 and their annual spring banquet in April of 2020.
