DU helping develop Bismarck community park

Support the new park effort this Giving Hearts Day

Giving Hearts Day 2020 is almost upon us. The North Dakota charity event arrives on Feb. 13, and Ducks Unlimited is among the charities you can support.

Giving Hearts Day is a 24-hour fundraising event aimed at helping charities and non-profits. Since its inception, the event has raised more than 71 million dollars for charities across North Dakota. More than 50 nonprofits in the city of Bismarck are set to participate this year, including Ducks Unlimited.

Supporting DU this Giving Hearts Day helps with the development of a new nature-based recreation park in north Bismarck. Owners of open land west of Divide Avenue and north of Burnt Boat Drive have made the property available for purchase and for the development of a community park. Partnering with Bismarck Parks and Recreation, DU is raising money to purchase the land, as well as restore natural features, such as wetlands and native prairie. The 120-acre park will provide the Bismarck-Mandan area with plenty of new outdoor opportunities, with trails for hiking and biking, pet-friendly trails, and restored wetlands and trees for education and birdwatching.
