MEMPHIS, Tenn. - June 22, 2015 - During Ducks Unlimited's 78th annual convention held recently in Milwaukee, Texas native Rogers Hoyt Jr. was elected first vice president of the country's largest nonprofit waterfowl and wetlands conservation organization.

"For the past two years, Rogers has led the Membership Committee, and under his watch, Ducks Unlimited (DU) reached a milestone of almost 700,000 total members," said George Dunklin, DU's chairman of the board. "He's a natural fit for his new position and I'm looking forward to working with him in the years to come."

As first vice president, Rogers will advise and represent DU's president, Paul Bonderson Jr. He will also work directly for Bonderson on special assignments and represent the president at functions Bonderson is unable to attend.

"I am proud to call myself a staunch supporter and advocate for Ducks Unlimited," Hoyt said. "As first vice president, I look forward to expanding my volunteer roles and can't wait to see what the next two years have in store for the largest wetlands and waterfowl conservation organization in North America."

A DU volunteer and supporter for three decades, Hoyt also serves as president of Ducks Unlimited de Mexico (DUMAC) and is on the board of directors for Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC). His previous volunteer appointments include: senior vice president, membership; senior vice president, event and volunteer management; flyway senior vice president; regional vice president and state chairman.

In addition to the elections of Hoyt and other officers, this year's Ducks Unlimited convention featured presentations from U.S Secretary of Agriculture, Tom Vilsack; Virtual Instruments CEO, John Thompson and Caterpillar Inc. CEO, Doug Oberhelman. Next year's convention will be held in Anchorage, Alaska, June 1-5.
