WASHINGTON, D.C. July 19, 2021 Ducks Unlimited (DU) announced today Marc Engstrom has been named DU's California Director of Policy. Engstrom brings more than 20 years of experience in statewide legislative and policy development, most recently as Acting Chief of Staff and Legislative Director for California Assembly member Jim Frazier, who represents parts of northern California.

"Marc comes to DU equipped with an extensive knowledge of the California Legislature," said DU Chief Policy Officer Zach Hartman. "We are excited to have him on our team and are confident he will build on DU's reputation as a leader in delivering habitat, cleaner air and water, and all the other benefits wetlands provide to people and wildlife in California and beyond."

In his new role, Engstrom will act as a liaison between DU and state and federal legislators. He will continue expanding conservation initiatives in a region stricken by historic droughts, threatening wetlands that are crucial breeding grounds for numerous waterfowl species in the Pacific Flyway.

"I'm honored to join such a talented team of policy professionals and help further DU's conservation mission," Engstrom said. "Conservation will continue to be increasingly important in the West, specifically in California, and I am thrilled to have this opportunity to build upon the solid foundation of relationships and programs DU has already established here."

Engstrom is a California native and graduated from the University of Southern California with a master's degree in public administration. A true sportsman, Engstrom is a lifelong outdoorsman and avid trap and skeet shooter.
