Memphis, Tenn. - September 6, 2017 - Charlie Lowery was named Ducks Unlimited's (DU) Regional Director of the Year for his outstanding efforts as a staff member of Region 4, an area that encompasses the Mississippi, Alabama, Arkansas, Tennessee and Louisiana.

"Charlie recognizes the critical role Ducks Unlimited's volunteers play in the success of the organization, said Jeff Lawrence, DU director of fundraising and volunteer relations. "To that end, he focuses on recruiting and training volunteers in his region and that focus has paid off in a stronger state organization."

Lowery, a resident of Athens, Tenn., covers east Tennessee and southeast Kentucky and works with volunteer committees in this area hosting fundraisers for the 80-year-old conservation organization. Lowery also received Sustained Growth Award, Grand Slam Award, $100,000 Growth Club and was inducted into the Million Dollar Club - an award given to event fundraising staff who raise $1 million or more.

DU is the leader in wetlands conservation and volunteers are the heart and soul of the organization. Through 4,000 local fund-raising events DU volunteers generate more than 500,000 memberships and more than $53 million annually.
