MEMPHIS, Tenn. Aug. 28, 2018 This week on Ducks Unlimited TV, co-host Field Hudnall hunts ducks in Eagle Lake, Texas, with longtime friend and waterfowling mentor Carl Thilenius, as well as Harlan Boettcher of Prairie Waterfowl Hunts.

Eagle Lake was once known as the top snow goose hunting destination on the continent, but the fast and furious teal action is the star of this weeks episode.

Its true that the snow geese do not come to Eagle Lake, Texas, in the numbers that they used to, Hudnall said. But, that does not mean Eagle Lake is no longer a waterfowl destination. The ducks are here in the South and thats why we are here.

And Hudnall was glad Thilenius was there too.

In all honesty, except for my father, Carl is one of the most influential hunters for me and my life, Hudnall said. He changed my entire perspective on waterfowling. I was blinded by what I thought waterfowling should have been. He showed me how it really was. What I mean by that is, he showed me how to be an effective hunter.

Thilenius is impressed with the waterfowler Hudnall grew into.

When Field came in, he was an excellent caller, way better than I was, Thilenius said. He brought a lot to the table. He came to me and asked about a lot of my tactics. By the time he left, Im not sure if he didnt make me feel like the apprentice.
