Keller joined the DU Texas A& University chapter as a freshman and filled leadership roles throughout her college career. She moved to Houston following graduation and joined the chapter there. Members soon realized that she was a natural to lead that chapter as well.

I moved to Houston right after graduation for work, said Keller. I became involved immediately in the Houston DU chapter and ended up becoming chapter chairman. Its been one of the greatest experiences of my life.

Wigand chose a similar path at Colorado State, joining the university chapter and soon leading another major DU chapter in Denver after leaving school. The Denver Sponsor Gala is routinely the largest grossing single event and it takes tremendous commitment and leadership to bring it together.

We have a really strong group of volunteers in Denver, Wigand said. It truly and simply wouldnt be possible without the entire team.

Dr. Ronal Roberson is the DU Advisory Board Senior Vice President for Youth and Education. He believes strongly in the DU Varsity (high school) and University (college) programs.

One of the best things we have done with the Varsity and University programs is allowing these young people to be leaders, Roberson said. Their momentum drives the future of Ducks Unlimited.

Keller and Wigand spent several days hunting near Charleston, Miss., with Roberson and DU Manager of Youth and Education Programs Mark Horobetz.

The success Jordan and Sam have had after graduation shows the capacity for other college volunteers to take on really strong, and what can be intimidating, leadership roles, Horobetz said. Because of what Jordan and Sam did at their schools, they had confidence in their leadership abilities beyond school.
