MEMPHIS, Tenn. - June 5, 2015 - During Ducks Unlimited's (DU) annual convention held recently in Milwaukee, Arkansas native George Dunklin Jr. was elected chairman of the board of the largest nonprofit wetlands and waterfowl conservation organization in North America.

"I have worked closely with George for many, many years, and I'm looking forward to continuing that relationship with him in his new position," said DU CEO Dale Hall. "George has served effectively as president, led numerous committees and volunteered countless hours to further the mission of this great organization, and I can't think of a better, more deserving volunteer than George to lead DU's board for the next two years."

Prior to being elected chairman, Dunklin served two years as DU's president. During his presidential term, DU reached several milestones including:

  • More than 450,000 acres conserved in North America
  • Nearly 700,000 total members
  • Increased growth in the Varsity and University chapter programs for high school and college students

In his new role, it will be Dunklin's responsibility to ensure DU adheres to its mission and objectives as set out in the organization's bylaws. He will lead board meetings; attend international, national, regional, state and local events as a representative of DU and serve as a member of DU Canada's board of directors. He will also serve as a trustee of Wetlands America Trust, the endowment and landholding arm of Ducks Unlimited.

"We have accomplished some great things as a team during my tenure on the board of directors and while serving as president," Dunklin said. "That success will continue given the strong volunteer leadership that was elected during this year's convention. I look forward to working with DU's new president, Paul Bonderson, and can't wait to see what the next two years has to offer."
