Vermont Mitigation Programs

Duck Unlimited’s Vermont In-lieu Fee (ILF) Program helps developers and landowners meet wetland mitigation requirements under federal and state law while protecting Vermont’s most valuable aquatic resources. For example, Vermont’s ILF Program has protected two properties totaling 305 acres along Otter Creek to safeguard high quality existing wetlands, restore degraded wetland habitat, and increase flood storage capacity.

To date, the Vermont ILF Program has conserved more than 862 acres statewide with much of that occurring  in the Lake Champlain Basin. Notable projects underway also include wetland protection and restoration in the Northeast Kingdom, where DU is advancing the largest wetland restoration project ever conducted in the Lake Memphremagog watershed. DU is also advancing restoration of wetlands along the Battenkill River in Manchester.

Why Choose DU in Vermont?

Since 1937, Ducks Unlimited has been North America’s leader in wetland restoration, conserving millions of acres. DU stands apart from other mitigation providers through our unmatched expertise in wetland restoration, deep-rooted partnerships with regulatory agencies and landowners, and legacy of conservation success.

When you choose to partner with DU, you simplify compliance with the Clean Water Act (Section 404) and Vermont’s state wetland regulations through a complete transfer of mitigation liability, while delivering greater ecological benefits.

(Include facts/stats about the program, its success and accomplishments, what areas/watersheds it benefits, etc.)
