WASHINGTON, D.C. - June 5, 2017 - Department of Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke announced today that Gregory Sheehan has been selected to serve as deputy director for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS). Sheehan currently serves as the director of the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources. In his new role as deputy director, Sheehan's primary responsibility will be overseeing the USFWS's $2.5 billion budget and nearly 9,000 employees.

"We are pleased to have Greg serve as deputy director of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service," said Ducks Unlimited CEO Dale Hall. "Greg has a proven track record in the conservation and natural resources community with his service to Utah, and we are confident he will bring the same professionalism and dedication to the Department of Interior. Ducks Unlimited looks forward to working with Greg in his new role, and we'd like to thank Secretary Zinke for selecting him."

Sheehan has spent more than 25 years in natural resource and wildlife management. He has served as director of the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources since 2012, and is a lifelong hunter, angler and aspiring wildlife photographer. Sheehan will begin in mid-June and will serve as the acting director of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service until a director is nominated by the president and confirmed by the Senate.
