South Dakota is an important state to the continent’s breeding and migrating waterfowl. The part of the state in the Prairie Pothole Region is a priority for Ducks Unlimited. DU’s work involves many conservation tools, from habitat protection to encouraging soil health practices. The Farming the Flyways newsletter includes examples of how Ducks Unlimited biologists, agronomists and engineers partner with South Dakota farmers and ranchers to conserve wetlands and grasslands.
