Purpose: To enhance 90 acres of moist-soil habitat on West Point WMA through replacement of an old water control structure to improve water management on the site. The wetland will be managed for production of moist-soil vegetation that provides food for wintering waterfowl. Water levels within the impoundment will be manipulated during spring and summer to encourage growth of moist-soil vegetation. Wood ducks, mallards, and other puddle ducks will benefit from completion of this project. This project will be managed by the Georgia Dept. of Natural Resources to foraging habitat for migrating and wintering dabbling ducks. West Point WMA offers limited public waterfowl hunting opportunities.
