Purpose: To restore 420 acres of moist-soil wetlands on Overflow NWR through renovation of external levees and installation of 4 water control structures. These units will be flooded during fall to provide adequate habitat during migration and wintering periods. Annual draw-downs will occur each spring to ensure adequate germination of moist-soil vegetation. This project provides valuable foraging habitat to migrating and wintering waterfowl along Overflow Creek. The project is within the Overflow NWR and is managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to maintain high quality wetland habitat for waterfowl, while providing public hunting opportunities.
