Last fall, Ducks Unlimited completed a project to improve 387 acres of waterfowl habitat on Bonneau Ferry Wildlife Management Area (WMA) in South Carolina. The Quarterman's Reserve project, which was finished just in time for duck season, helped improve the management of this area's semipermanent wetlands, moist-soil impoundments, and flooded agricultural crops for waterfowl and other wetland-dependent species.

Partnering with the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, DU enhanced more than 5,000 linear feet of canals, restored existing embankments, and replaced four water-control structures on Bonneau Ferry WMA. The project was part of the South Carolina Lowcountry Phase III North American Wetlands Conservation Act grant.
