Each year, Ducks Unlimited recognizes top-performing staff for their work to secure major donor commitments and cash support for DUs conservation mission. Directors of development achieve the highest levels of success when they work closely with other field and headquarters staff, volunteers, and donors, said Rich Smith, DU national director of development. It is an honor to recognize Anne Hansen, senior director of development for northern California and Hawaii, as the first director in DU history to secure over $3 million in funding.

The Western Region was recognized as the Regional Development Team of the Year. This group secured more than $6.7 million in commitments, surpassing their goal by more than 70 percent. Led by Managing Director of Development Steve Schmitt, the team includes Directors of Development Jessop Boden, Garrett Coussens, and Anne Hansen; Director of Foundation Relations Denise Barrett; and Director of Gift Planning Todd Stoa.

Steve had this to say about the teams achievements: Teamwork is the key, and that involves working closely with all of our volunteer and staff partners to provide opportunities for Major Sponsors to support DU. The entire teams accomplishments for wetlands conservation were remarkable, especially during such a challenging year.
