David Martin and his wife, Michele, are Sponsors in Perpetuity and are supporting DU's conservation efforts in the Natural State.

Arkansas Ducks Unlimited State Chairman David Martin was introduced to duck hunting by a friend in high school. “Neither of us knew what we were doing, but we had a lot of fun,” David recalls. Today, his passion for waterfowling and clean water, and his concern for future generations, drives his commitment to wetlands conservation.

“Everybody that thinks of DU thinks of duck hunting, and that’s certainly part of it,” David says. But he realizes that the organization’s work goes well beyond that. “It’s really about water; everything we do is based around water. If we lose that clean water, then where are we?”

As Diamond Life Sponsors and dedicated volunteers, David and his wife, Michele, are committed to leaving a conservation legacy for their children and grandchildren. They accomplish this by not only supporting DU personally but also getting others involved. “If you drink water, you need to be involved with DU,” David says.

David and Michele’s young grandson already understands the importance of what Ducks Unlimited does. On a youth hunt in 2015, the then-11-year-old looked up at David and asked, “Papa, what happens if we don’t have this anymore?” David was stunned by the question. After thinking carefully about his response, he turned to his grandson and said, “As long as we have Ducks Unlimited, we won’t lose this.”
