LINCOLN, Neb. March 11, 2020 - Nebraska Ducks Unlimited (DU) recently presented two partners wetland conservation awards at its state convention in Lincoln.

Brad Krohn, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), was chosen as the Nebraska DU Wetland Manager of the Year, and Ted LaGrange, Nebraska Game and Parks Commission (NGPC), is the 2020 Partner of the Year.

This is the fifth year we have given conservation-focused awards, said DU Conservation Program Manager for Nebraska John Denton. We wanted to recognize Nebraska wetland managers and partners for the thankless work that they do day-in and day-out to protect, restore and maintain wetland habitat.

Krohn oversees all USFWS waterfowl production areas across the Rainwater Basin. Denton says Krohns responsibilities have grown over the years.

We have been very impressed at what Brad and his staff are able to accomplish with a small team, Denton said. Despite the monumental task, he continues to see the big picture and assist Ducks Unlimited with priority projects within the Rainwater Basin, to the benefit of conservation and the public.

LaGrange manages the wetland program for NGPC. Denton says he has been instrumental in helping Ducks Unlimiteds conservation goals move forward.

Ted has been crucial to getting my foot in the door with various groups doing wetland work in the state, given his highly respected standing within the Nebraska conservation community, Denton said. He is our primary conduit to the Nebraska Game and Parks, which partners with us on a significant portion of our project workload in the state.
