Jim Daugherty, devoted volunteer, conservationist, and major sponsor, passed away with loving family and friends at his bedside in Lincoln, MT on August 24th, following a hard fought battle with cancer. Jim and his loving wife Linda, began supporting and volunteering for DU in California back in the 1980s. Jim served DU in many volunteer roles over the last three decades including State Chair, State Campaign Chair, State Policy Chair, and until his passing was the Sealed Bid Auction (SBA) Chair in Montana. It was Jim's dogged determination to see DU succeed that was his greatest contribution. This was showcased recently as Jim has been the most successful SBA fundraiser in the entire country for the last 4 years. He often shared his excitement about the ancillary benefits of this program such as earned guns for chapters, new volunteer recruitment, and discovery of potential major sponsors. In addition to his many state level roles, Jim served on the national development committee and had a passion for encouraging others to take a larger philanthropic role with DU and our mission. Jim and Linda are recognized as Diamond Heritage major sponsors, are both members of the Feather Society, and past members of the Presidents Council.

Jim and Linda were not hunters, but joined and devoted their lives to DU for the mission and the people who work hard to move it forward. The relationships they developed with their DU family were cherished by both and will help Linda get through this time of deep sorrow.

A Memorial Service honoring Jim will be held November 10, 2018, 1:00 PM at the Historical Community Hall in Lincoln, MT.
