MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin – April 26, 2019 – A sold-out crowd of more than 275 people attended the 2019 Milwaukee Downtown Ducks Unlimited Banquet and thanks to the generosity of supporters and corporate sponsors, the event and raised more than $150,000 for wetland and waterfowl conservation.

Held at the Wisconsin Club in Milwaukee on March 19, the banquet featured cocktails, raffles, auctions and door prizes. The Milwaukee Downtown Chapter is led by BJ Westfahl, Milwaukee Downtown Ducks Unlimited Chairman.

“We are thrilled with the commitment of the business leaders and community in their support of conservation and Ducks Unlimited,” Westfahl said. “The committee has excelled at fostering these relationships and preparing an event second to none.”

The 63rd annual event was presented by Doral Corporation, a full-service industrial contractor supporting the manufacturing, industrial, food and beverage markets and more. Numerous donors and supporters, including WE Energies Foundation, David V. Uihlein Foundation and the Frieda and William Hunt Foundation boosted DU’s ability to deliver habitat programs through its Great Lakes Initiative. The coastline of the five Great Lakes exceeds 10,000 miles and encircles approximately 20% of the world's fresh water. Glaciers created a diversity of wetlands, shallow lakes, coastal estuaries and river flowages. Through the Great Lakes Initiative, DU addresses these habitat types and provides abundant resources for significant numbers of breeding, migrating and wintering waterfowl.

Ducks Unlimited is the leader in wetlands conservation in Wisconsin and across the country. Wetlands are nature’s filtration system and remove pollutants before water reaches streams and rivers, while also providing cleaner water for drinking and recreation.

Ducks Unlimited has more than 35,000 members in Wisconsin, and has invested more than $31 million to protect, restore or enhance more than 118,000 acres of habitat. Learn more about Ducks Unlimited in Wisconsin at www.ducks.org/wisconsin.

Ducks Unlimited Inc. is the world's largest nonprofit organization dedicated to conserving North America's continually disappearing waterfowl habitats.
