Conservation Through Art

Conservation Through Art is a biennial event celebrating the partnership between DU and ArtsMemphis. This unexpected partnership brings together those passionate about the outdoors and those with an eye for the arts.

With DU and ArtsMemphis coming together, supporters have raised over $6 million in support of the local community.

One of the beneficiaries of this great partnership is the Big River Conservancy. DU and several partners are at the forefront of acquiring and restoring 1,500 acres of wetlands directly across from Downtown Memphis.

This unique project will re-establish native vegetation and re-create functioning bottomland hardwood wetlands paramount to the area's wildlife, water quality, and ecosystems. It will also provide recreational and tourism opportunities in Downtown Memphis and nearby West Memphis, adding biking, walking, and hiking trails and expansive access to the outdoors for everyone in the community.
