St. Francis Sunken Lands WMA - Snowden Fields Project

Purpose: To restore 91 acres of moist-soil wetlands on St. Francis Sunken Lands WMA through construction of several levees (13,000 cu. yd.) and installation of two water control structures. In addition, a portable relift pump was purchased to provide a dependable source of water during periods of drought. This project provides valuable foraging habitat to migrating and wintering waterfowl along the St. Francis River. The project is within the St. Francis Sunken Lands Management Area and is managed by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission to maintain high quality wetland habitat for waterfowl, while providing public hunting opportunities.
