Washington resident elected senior vice president of Ducks Unlimited

Jean Hulbert to help lead national organization

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – May 28, 2009 – Ducks Unlimited elected Jean Hulbert of Longview, Wash., to serve on its national board of directors as a flyway senior vice president. Hulbert accepted the position over Memorial Day weekend at DU's annual convention in Denver.

Jean Hulbert"It's an honor to be elected as senior vice president of Ducks Unlimited. We're proud that 88 cents of every dollar raised goes directly to our conservation mission," said Hulbert. "DU is a volunteer-led and -driven organization. Volunteers receive no compensation for their time or travel. Along with DU's dedicated staff we believe efficiency is the best policy for our wetlands conservation program."

As flyway senior vice president, Hulbert will represent Ducks Unlimited's president and board of directors in Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Arizona, Nevada, California and Hawaii.

"Jean has long been an active volunteer and staunch supporter of Ducks Unlimited," said Don Young, DU's executive vice president. "Her knowledge of the organization combined with her passion for DU's mission will no doubt serve DU well throughout her region and on a national level."

Hulbert has been a member of Ducks Unlimited since 1980. She's served DU as an area, zone and district chairman, and on the corporate relations committee. Hulbert is a major sponsor of DU's conservation mission, and currently serves as Washington's state campaign chairman. Hulbert also serves on DU's development committee, is a state trustee and national delegate and serves as a member of the emeritus board.

Hulbert resides in Longview, with her husband, Dr. Jim Hulbert, who is a former president and chairman of the board for Ducks Unlimited. She specializes in raising cutting horses and bucking bulls, is a registered nurse, avid outdoorswoman, and enjoys dogs, gardening and hunting.

With more than a million supporters, Ducks Unlimited is the world's largest and most effective wetland and waterfowl conservation organization with almost 12 million acres conserved. The United States alone has lost more than half of its original wetlands - nature's most productive ecosystem - and continues to lose more than 80,000 wetland acres each year.
