Fifty-six attendees including incoming DU President John Pope, were given a presentation on Carolina Connection during the event hosted by Mrs. Lucille V. Pate at Arcadia Plantation.
“The Carolina Connection is a sponsor initiative to raise $2.5 million by the end of 2010 to restore and enhance a minimum of 5,000 acres of critical waterfowl habitat, both in South Carolina and on the breeding grounds where our waterfowl originate,” DU Director of Conservation Programs for the South Atlantic Flyway Craig LeSchack said.
Several Major Sponsors were recognized at the event including Russel Owen, Erin Jones and Jay Phillips for their Life Sponsor commitments; Bobby and Daisy Desportes for their Diamond Life Sponsor commitment; and Lucille V. Pate and Family for completing their Sponsor in Perpetuity commitment. The Pate family donated a conservation easement on the 3,612-acre historic Arcadia Plantation to DU in 2007.
