A Montana fishing and hunting spot has now been improved for people and wildlife. Ducks Unlimited completed a project on Carter Ponds, which is five miles north of Lewistown. DU replaced two existing dams that were in poor condition.
Funding was provided through a Small North American Waterfowl Conservation Act grant, Natural Resources Conservation WHIP program, Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks, MT Department of Natural Resource Conservation with in-kind funding from DU.
The area is leased from a local landowner and provides public access for fishing and limited hunting.
