Greenwing: Leaving A Legacy

Wetland restoration project dedicated to Mississippi youths

ROLLING FORK, Miss. – Oct. 30, 2015 – More than 100 Mississippi youths have their name engraved on a plaque at Howard Miller Wildlife Management Area near Rolling Fork. They are Ducks Unlimited Legacy Greenwing members, and their support provided partial funding for the recently completed restoration work on the WMA.

Golden Anniversary Wetland Restoration Dedicated in Southeast Missouri

The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) and Ducks Unlimited recently gathered with supporters to dedicate and celebrate the renovations completed on the Duck Creek Conservation Area in Stoddard, Bollinger, and Wayne Counties. The conservation area contains 2,400 acres of wetlands, as well as forest and cropland, and was purchased by the MDC to provide waterfowl hunting opportunities adjacent to the Mingo National Wildlife Refuge.

Legacy Greenwing Project Named for Frank Appleberry

The sixth Legacy Greenwing project supported by Arkansas Ducks Unlimited will restore 120 acres of vital waterfowl breeding habitat near Rhein, Saskatchewan. Healthy parkland habitat in this area of Canada supports nesting duck densities of more than 50 pairs per square mile, making it one of the most productive waterfowl breeding areas in North America.

Texas: Dedication to celebrate improvements at Mad Island WMA

MATAGORDA, Texas - July 9, 2012 - Ducks Unlimited and Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) partners will celebrate several wetland enhancement projects on Mad Island Wildlife Management Area (WMA) by dedicating the third Legacy Greenwing project in the state near Matagorda on July 21. The dedication will begin at 10 a.m. and is open to the public.
