Great Lakes/Atlantic Region promotes economic benefits restoration to Congress

DU Director of Public Policy Gildo Tori brought company to meet with members of Congress on the economic benefits of Great Lakes restoration. In cooperation with and hosted by the Healing Our Waters Coalition, Tori; Jim Nichols of Carry Manufacturing in Caro, Mich.; and Michigan State University master’s student Ryan Boyer met with six Michigan congressional offices in Washington, D.C., on Dec. 4.

Ducks Unlimited applauds improvements in Great Lakes funding

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Aug. 2, 2013 - Ducks Unlimited appreciates the passage of an amendment to provide $210 million to the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI) program. Previously a subcommittee had reduced funding for the successful program to $60 million.

Lake Ontario Wetland Restoration Completed

Ducks Unlimited recently completed construction work on a wetland-enhancement project on Lakeview Wildlife Management Area (WMA) along eastern Lake Ontario.

Nayanquing Point State Wildlife Area Project Completed

Nayanquing Point State Wildlife Area in Bay County, Michigan, consists of approximately 1,400 acres of Great Lakes coastal marsh and associated upland habitats along Michigan's Saginaw Bay.

First Great Lakes Restoration Initiative project completed at Shiawassee National Wildlife Refuge

Stakeholders in the Saginaw Bay watershed are seeing positive environmental impacts this fall thanks to work completed by Ducks Unlimited and others.
