Migration Alert: Chesapeake Bay Hunters Optimistic as Temps Drop

Chesapeake Bay duck hunters faced their share of challenges in the final weeks of 2014, but the arrival of bitter cold weather this week has many waterfowlers optimistic about their prospects in the days ahead.

Critical Conservation Areas overlap many DU priority areas

WASHINGTON – May 27, 2014 – U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack today announced the eight Critical Conservation Areas (CCA) established in the 2014 Farm Bill, which overlap with many of Ducks Unlimited’s (DU) priority regions.

DU Participates in Chesapeake Bay Partnership Meeting

Ducks Unlimited recently participated in a Chesapeake Bay partnership meeting with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the Nature Conservancy, the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries, and the Chesapeake Bay Foundation to discuss funding opportunities through the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF).

Migration Alert: Warm Weather Delays Ducks on Chesapeake Bay

A second straight year of unseasonable warmth has plagued the Atlantic Flyway. As I write this, a quick look at the Ducks Unlimited Waterfowl Migration Map reveals temperatures ranging from 43 F in Toronto to 58 F in New York City and 66 F in southern Virginia.
