DU, congressional ag staff golf for a cause

Ducks Unlimited Government Affairs Office staff joined 200 golfers and congressional agriculture staffers to play in the 2013 Ag Open on Sept. 3 in Queenstown, Md.

The DU team of four consisted of DU Director of Public Policy Dan Wrinn; DU Public Policy Specialist Kellis Moss; Bud Whitmire, legislative assistant for Rep. Tom Graves (GA); and Tommy Binion, legislative director for Rep. Steve King (IA).

Other tournament participants included representatives from the American Farm Bureau Association, National Corn Growers Association and USA Rice Federation.

Over almost 20 years, the Ag Open tournament has raised more than $1 million in support of a local reading and mentoring program for underserved children. All of this year’s proceeds went to Everybody Wins! DC, a charitable organization devoted to promoting children’s literacy and a love of learning through shared reading experiences with caring individuals. It is the largest grassroots children’s literacy and mentoring program in the Washington Metropolitan Area.
