Both houses of Congress introduce electronic duck stamp bills

The Senate and House of Representatives are both considering bills that would permanently make federal duck stamps available for purchase online.

Reps. Rob Wittman (VA) and Ron Kind (WI) introduced their bill, H.R. 1206, in March. The House Natural Resources Committee recently approved the bill with unanimous consent, which would allow the full House of Representatives to vote on it.

“While this issue may seem small for many, passage of the Permanent Electronic Duck Stamp Act would be an important step forward for the conservation of our natural areas for use and enjoyment by future generations,” Rep. Wittman said.

On the Senate side, the Environment and Public Works Committee is considering the e-duck stamp bill, S. 738, introduced by Sen. Roger Wicker (MS). Other co-sponsors include Sens. Max Baucus (MT), Thad Cochran (MS) and Mark Pryor (AR).
