DU Colorado hunting property up for auction

Ducks Unlimited will be selling its 819-acre Winterhaven parcel via public auction on Wednesday, Nov. 20 in Julesburg, Colo. This prime hunting and agricultural property is located 1 mile south of the town of Ovid in Sedgwick County, Colo. Winterhaven is easily accessible from I-76 (exit 172) and Pony Express Road. The sale will include two shares of South Reservation Ditch water and 90 acres of pivot-irrigated cropland. Also included are 650 acres of native dryland pasture that has not been grazed in five years.

Warm-water sloughs, South Platte River frontage and constructed recharge wetlands provide excellent hunting opportunities for waterfowl, deer and upland birds. Colorado Open Lands holds a conservation easement on the property, which will remain tied to the title in perpetuity. Agriculture, low-impact recreation and hunting are permitted under the terms of the easement.
