CLOVER, S.C. – Aug. 20, 2013 – Ducks Unlimited recently awarded Regional Director Justin Harris a 2012-13 Co-Regional Director of the Year award for his outstanding efforts as a staff member in Region 7, an area that encompasses the southeastern United States.
"Winning this award is a great honor and a testament to the great volunteers of western North and South Carolina. Our volunteer team is one of the best in the country," Harris said. "The Regional Director of the Year award was extremely satisfying to receive, and when I was called up to accept it, I did so on behalf of every district chairman, area chairman and volunteer representing our region."
Harris, a resident of Clover, S.C., covers upstate South Carolina and western North Carolina, working with volunteer committees in this area hosting fundraising events for the 76-year-old wetlands conservation organization. The events in Harris' region raised more than $600,000 for DU's conservation mission during the fiscal year ending June 30.
Volunteers are the heart and soul of Ducks Unlimited, coordinating more than 4,000 local fundraising events that generate more than 400,000 memberships and more than $50 million annually.
