DU volunteers discuss conservation with Sen. Collins

Bangor Ducks Unlimited Chapter Chairman David Poll and DU Regional Biologist Kurt Anderson met with Sen. Susan Collins (ME) via video conference in November to discuss the North American Wetlands Conservation Act (NAWCA), Farm Bill and Sportsmen’s Act of 2012.

DU thanked the senator for her consistent voting record, as well as for her past and present support of all three legislative issues. The meeting presented a unique opportunity to showcase DU’s volunteer-led structure and teamwork among grassroots, development and conservation arms.

Sen. Collins was especially enthusiastic about the intra- and inter-organization collaborations utilized to deliver on-the-ground habitat conservation. She also reaffirmed her commitment to maintaining NAWCA appropriations, instituting a five-year Farm Bill and improving public access to federal land by advocating for the Senate’s version of the Sportsmen’s Act.

Many thanks to the DU volunteers and staff who pulled this meeting together on short notice!
