South Carolina lawmakers tour Santee Delta

Representatives from Ducks Unlimited and the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR) took South Carolina congressional representatives through the Santee Delta to show them conservation efforts across the region. The tour was organized by Wetland America Trust board member and Annandale Plantation owner Dan Ray and state senator Chip Campsen.

DU staff had an opportunity to highlight our national program focus on Thursday night and our state focus at a conservation breakfast Friday morning. A tour followed that included current (Annandale) and past (Yawkey Wildlife Center, Washo Reserve, Santee Coastal Reserve) North American Wetlands Conservation Act (NAWCA) projects delivered by DU. The tour was focused on the importance of conservation easements such as the one on Annandale Plantation held by WAT and partners.

Nine South Carolina state senators, several staffers, director of SCDNR and six lobbyists attended the tour.
