History runs deep in DU's newest film

Watch Ne Pee Nauk online

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – March 6, 2018 – Ducks Unlimited has released the first film from the 2018 season of its acclaimed online series: DU Films. The film explores a rich and unique history of waterfowling at the Ne Pee Nauk Duck Club in Wisconsin.

The club has been in continuous operation since 1882 and is the oldest active duck club in Wisconsin. The club’s enormous log book contains entries from nearly 140 years of waterfowling.

“It’s just fascinating sitting down with some of the gentlemen out here that have been members for 30 or 40 years and reading the log book on how it used to be,” said Ne Pee Nauk member and DU volunteer Bob Spoerl.

Today, the members of Ne Pee Nauk enjoy waterfowling traditions in many of the same ways their predecessors did more than a century ago. But they are also heavily focused on conserving their marsh and other habitats across North America.

“I believe our primary mission here is one of conservancy,” said DU volunteer and Ne Pee Nauk member Bill Niemann. “It’s extremely important for other people to have the opportunity to fall in love with the sport that we love so much.”

“Everyone wants to leave a legacy,” said Spoerl. “I see a lot of families gift everything to their kids. I want to gift it back to nature. I want to have areas preserved where my kids can take their kids and their kids can take their kids.”

DU Films is a unique online film series from Ducks Unlimited, the world leader in wetlands and waterfowl conservation. Each film features thrilling hunting footage but also tells a story about waterfowl hunters who are passionate about hunting and giving back to the resource. DU Films presents all of this through breathtaking waterfowl footage and intimate conversations with hunters across North America.

The 2018 season includes six films. DU will release one film per month this spring and summer.

DU Films is produced by Rock Road Creative and sponsored by Mossy Oak, Drake Waterfowl, Winchester Repeating Arms, Winchester Ammunition and Yeti.
