DU repaired the emergency spillway at the Hal Kantrud Wetland in the fall of 2004 and installed a small agri-drain water control structure. The repaired spillway will alleviate future erosion within the emergency spillway and allow better water management opportunities to improve habitat for breeding waterfowl.

The project is on a small 2-acre Civilian Conservation Corps dam that was constructed on private property just southeast of Jamestown. A water control structure was not installed when the dam was originally built, and the emergency spillway continued to erode over the years.

This project was a cooperative effort between Ducks Unlimited, The North American Wetlands Conservation Act, U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service and Mr. Hal Kantrud.
