Chapter Spotlight

Pentagon Chapter

All DU volunteers are remarkable. But within DU's exceptional volunteer community there are individuals who have taken the volunteer spirit a step further. DU's Pentagon chapter is run mainly by men and women who are either active-duty or retired U.S. military personnel. They run a very successful DU fundraising dinner, and for each of the past five years, the Pentagon chapter dinner has raised more than $120,000 for DU while achieving an efficiency ratio of more than 80 percent.

DU turns 75!

Join the party as Ducks Unlimited celebrates its 75th Anniversary

Seventy-five years ago this month, a small group of avid waterfowlers took bold action to help restore waterfowl populations devastated by drought and wetland drainage. Led by printing magnate Joseph Palmer Knapp and other members of the More Game Birds in American Foundation, these conservation pioneers founded a new organization with the singular mission of protecting and restoring wetlands in Canada, where the majority of the continent's waterfowl are raised.

Recipe Spotlight | Savory Waterfowl Stew

  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 6 cups skinless duck and/or goose breast fillets cut into 1/2-inch cubes
  • 3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 8 cups beef broth or game stock
  • 1 14-ounce can diced tomatoes, with liquid
  • 1/2 cup pearled barley (uncooked)
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 2 cups celery, roughly chopped
  • 2 cups carrots, peeled and roughly chopped
  • 8–10 whole peeled garlic cloves
  • 13 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 2 cups fresh green beans, stem ends removed, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 11 & 1/2 cups whole skinless pearl onions
  • salt to taste
