Indy Sponsor Chapter
When the governor, two past presidents of DU and the current president of DU all plan to attend your sponsor event, you want to pull out all the stops. And that's just what the Indianapolis sponsor chapter of DU did for its second annual Indy sponsor event, held in late January.
When hunting snow geese, scouting is the most important factor determining success or failure. Many hunters go out in the mid-afternoon, find a field full of geese, and decide to set up there the next morning. However, the geese may clean out the grain on the field before sunset and move on. Consequently, watch geese until they leave the field to roost at dark. In the morning, they will always return to the place where they fed last.

Now Is the Time for Spring Snows
They're smart, hard to decoy and will humble even the savviest of waterfowl hunters, but those who pursue spring snow geese know that the end result is worth the effort. If you've never taken in a day of decoying snows, blues or Ross's geese as they wing northward on the heels of a retreating winter, maybe this is the year to see what you've been missing.
Gear Up | February Gear Guide
As February's winter weather sweeps across the nation, many waterfowl hunters begin placing decoys into storage. Then there are light goose hunters. It's a new breed of waterfowler, determined to take one last shot and contribute to a conservation cause. The E-newsletter editorial team has chosen a few items that can improve any snow goose hunter's success rates this spring.

DU Magazine | A Duck's-Eye View
Federal conservation programs are helping DU create healthier landscapes for waterfowl in the Great Lakes region
Waterfowl winging their way across North America have a unique perspective that is hard to image?unless you're a small aircraft pilot. Flying at several hundred?or thousand?feet high, waterfowl can easily identify and evaluate the landscape below as they seek food resources and safe resting areas. Ducks Unlimited biologists keep this perspective in mind as they plan and implement conservation projects for waterfowl, knowing that ducks, geese, and swans need a mix of habitat types in fairly close proximity to meet their biological needs.
