Member Tip
Shallow Grave
When hunting Canada geese, it's best to place your decoy spread in the center of the field where geese are feeding, rather than beside fence rows. To conceal myself in the middle of a field without building a conspicuous blind, I dig a long, shallow pit 20 inches deep, 24 inches wide and 30 inches long. I spread cornstalks over any loose dirt and place goose decoys on either side of the pit. When geese approach, I simply crouch down in the pit, safely hidden from the gaze of wary honkers. (Make sure to get permission from the landowner before digging.)

Then try to raise money for the ducks. Good luck, right? In a county where the lowest point has a higher elevation than all but about a dozen states' highest points shines a DU gem: the Grand County Chapter of Ducks Unlimited.
