New Ducks Unlimited Expo Offers Fun for the Entire Family

MEMPHIS, Tenn., Aug. 15, 2005 – You’ll find something for everyone at the new Ducks Unlimited Expo coming to Memphis on September 17-18.

For only $20, a family of five can enjoy the new exhibits and activities featured at the expo at the Agricenter International in Memphis. The expo features a series of villages, modeled after the centuries-old European game fairs that guide both novice and experienced outdoor enthusiasts.

In the Shooting Village, you can shoot clay targets to get ready for the season with your choice of shotguns from the best gun makers in the business. Or try your hand at challenging air rifle still targets. You can compete in the “dove flurry” shooting competition and then be entertained by Tom Knapp, the world’s best exhibition shooter.

In the Ford Archery Village, try out compounds, recurves and crossbows. Don’t miss Byron Ferguson, world-renowned trick shooter, and compete in the Bowhunter Challenge.

The Off-Road Village, a favorite destination for adults, lets you test drive your choice of 4-wheel-drive trucks and SUVs on a rough and tumble off-road course. It’s the perfect place to drive it before you buy it at your dealer.

The GMC Hunting Dog Village helps you learn to train and care for your dog. Mike Stewart, who trains Drake the DU dog, will be there along with other pros to show you the tricks of dog training. Bring your dog to compete in the Big Air contest where there will be pro and amateur divisions.

The Exhibitor Village features a wide variety of outdoor products and services. From firearms and bows, to the latest gadgets and gear for waterfowl, deer and turkey hunting, you’ll find it all to try and buy from the great hunting and fishing outfitters filling this village.

The Bass Pro Shops Fishing Village offers fly-casting and bait casting skills. Your family can paddle a kayak or a canoe on the DU Expo pond.

Wrap up your visit with a trip through the Conservation Village to learn how professional conservation agencies help protect and maintain our wildlife resources and our opportunities to enjoy them.

Visit the DU Expo sponsors while on the Agricenter grounds: GMC, Ford, Toyota, Chevrolet, Honda, Nissan, Bass Pro Shops, WREG-TV/News Channel 3 Outdoors, Baptist Memorial Healthcare, Avery Outdoors, Mossy Oak, Federal, Benelli, Beretta USA, Charles Daly, Easton, Delta Targets, Genesis Bows, Echo Tools, Eukanuba, Sportsman's Warehouse, Saunders, Promatic and Pfizer.

With more than a million supporters, Ducks Unlimited is the world’s largest and most effective wetland and waterfowl conservation organization. The United States alone has lost more than half of its original wetlands − nature’s most productive ecosystem − and continues to lose more than 100,000 wetland acres each year.
