Since waterfowl season is quickly approaching I am looking to buy a case of shells for use on ducks and another for use on Canadas before the shelves clear out.  That being said, which shells & shot size do you prefer for use on most ducks?  Which shells & shot size do you prefer for use on Canadas?

In the past, I have primarily used HEVI-Shot Heavy Metal but am wondering what others out there prefer.  It seems like the more hunting magazines I look at and articles I read, the more I realize that there are way more brands than I thought which has me wondering whether I should change it up.

Here is a list of shells I would be torn between:

HEVI-Shot Heavy Metal

HEVI-Shot Speed Ball

HEVI-Shot Duck Load

HEVI-Shot Goose Load

Federal Premium Ultra-Shok

Federal Premium Speed Shok

Federal Premium Ultra-Shok High-Density

Federal Premium Black Cloud FS Steel

Remington Hypersonic Steel

Kent Fasteel Precision Steel

Kent Silver Steel

Kent Tungsten-Matrix

Winchester Blind Side

Winchester Super-X Drylok Super Steel

Winchester Steel Expert High Velocity

Rio Royal BlueSteel

*Also, please feel free to weigh in on your shot size preference for most ducks and Canada geese.

I use 12 gauge Kent Tungsten Matrix #3 3.5" 2 oz loads for greater snow geese, Federal HD #6 and 4 for ducks and HeviShot dead coyote for giant Canada geese. My SBE II malfunctions with 11/4 oz non toxic loads.

Federal Premium Ultra-Shok 3" BB geese

Federal Premium Ultra-Shok 3"  3's for ducks early

Federal Premium Ultra-Shok 3"  3's and 1's for ducks later on 1's also work great on geese and I've even shot geese withte 3's but those are my preferances

I've had a sbe II for 5 years and have not had an issue with shooting 1 1/4 oz non toxic shot.

1 1/4 oz. toxic-non toxic is still 1 1/4 oz. The powder is the variable.

My SBE 2 cycles 1 1/8 oz. loads no problem.

I like Blindside, shoots well, knock down power is the best that I have found on the market.

Out of your list I would go with:

HEVI-Shot Heavy Metal - Best price of the Hevi flavors.  Great pattern density, hits hard.

HEVI-Shot Speed Ball - To me it is basically Hevi Metal on steroids.  You get the pattern density, hard hitting of the Hevi Shot pellets at a bit lower cost of regular hevi shot. And it is blazing fast.

HEVI-Shot Duck Load - Hard hitting load that will flat decimate fowl.  It is fairly expensive however, but totally worth the cost.

HEVI-Shot Goose Load - Ultimate load in my opinion.  If cost is no factor, this stuff is flat brutal on any waterfowl.
