I went to the range with my buddy tonight who recently purchased a Stoeger Condor 20 ga O/U.  This was his first night trying out the gun and normally he shot an 870 Wingmaster 12 ga.  We started shooting trap and by the fifth shot on station 2 he hadn't hit anything.  So he started to change things up and eventually he found that the shotgun was shooting high.  Now, the only way most shotguns shoot high is if you are looking down the rib at the bead and instead of seeing a flat plain with the bead barely visable you see more of a mountain with a bead on top of it.  Maybe it was him, I didn't shoot his gun.  I was working on a perfect 25 round in trap and finally won.  My duck commander hat is now filled with 7 1/2 shot holes.  Some shot is actually lodged in the bill of the hat.  Definately wearing that hat around proudly now.  All i was wondering is if anyone has had similar problems.  I think it is just the way he is mounting the gun. lol

If it is truly a "trap" gun, it is SUPPOSED to shoot high as it allows the shooter to keep a visual of the target while placing the barrel bead right beneath it, quite standard for a trap gun.

It is not truly a trap gun.  I did explain that to him that in trap that is kinda a given to tune your gun to shoot high.  But this shotgun does not have an adjustable rib to change the POI, nor is a quote "trap gun."  I shoot trap alot and I've never had this problem that he is having.  Neither of my shotguns shoot high.  Both are flat shooting or 50/50.  I've shot a SKB that was set to shoot high and a Perazzi set the same way and it was actually to my advantage in trap.  Although it took some getting use to.

Well in that case, the POA is off because it's a cheap piece of crap. $350 for an O/U? You get what you pay for.

I had one in 12 ga, it wasn't bad, but I sold it because I didn't shoot as well with it. My brother has one that is a 12 ga, 20 ga combo and uses it for rabbits, pheasants, chuckars and ducks and never encountered a problem with them. I never even heard of one shooting high, there's a possibility that it is the ammo that your friend is using.

Alright

Flannel that is exactly what I told people that asked me about these Stoegers.  You get what you pay for.  I recently shot another stoeger 12 o/u and didn't like it.  But, it didn't shoot high.  I just shot behind the target....lol.

No kidding, some of these guys buy super cheap guns like that (and that's fine if that's all you can afford) but they unrealistically expect them to perform like a Citori, Silver Pigeon or a Perazzi. If that were the case, nobody would buy the big dollar guns and they would phase out. I have my Dad's O/U Spartan and it's ok, but I don't expect much out of it either! Good luck huntin this year.
