I posted this a week ago, that I was looking for some advice on where to buy frozen birds to use for training my dog. I took the advice of googling but I have not been able to find where to get something like this. Does anyone else have any answer for my problem. Thanks!Austin

Might be helpful if you let us know where you are. Just a thought.

Per past posts, he's in TX. Lots of retriever people down there. Here's my suggestion. Go to www.entryexpress.net and register. It's freeLook at hunt tests and field trials by clicking on Field Trials or Hunt Tests under AKC. Find events in TX, click on the trial name and look around. Lots of into can be found under View Premium. The club's website might be listed. Test committee people are listed with contac info. You at least have the club's name to Google to find their website. So basically you need to use EE to find a retriever club in your area. That will lead you to contact information which eventually will lead you to club members who can tell you where to buy birds.

Check some local game farms. Livestock auctions and craigslist are great places to search also. I have found ducks, quail, pheasants, pigeons, and chukar for sale locally to train with. I'm working my Shorthair through NAVHDA, and I'm looking for live birds all the time. Prices would be decent if they were close to those below -Ducks- $6-10 ea Quail - $4-6 ea Pheasant - $12-15 ea Pigeons $2-5 ea Chukar - $6-8 ea

My girlfriend told me yesterday that she saw an ad on Craigslist where someone in a town 10 minutes from me has 2 pet mallards that she want to give away. She's called about them already for herself and it looks like she'll get them. If I'd known, I would have called. They would have made a great addition to my flyer collection. LOL:hehe:
